Sahara Desert & Gorges du Todra
Day 1
We move you around Rissani’s best hidden kasbahs, Moulay Shariff Mausoleum and the city souq. Rissani’s importance goes back to early times when camel caravans crossed the Sahara establishing the important African trade route called “The Siljmassa Trail”. This city was the starting / ending point of the most important ancient sub-Saharan and North Africa trade route.
We visit the amazing region fossil beds where you can enjoy thousand years old fossils in site. You visit the province main fossil bed that makes this region of Sahara one of the most important in the world concerning fossil richness. You walk into a workshop and get the general ideas in how to extract stone, also, you learn a little bit about names and its historical factor. Names like orthonceras, goniatites and ammonites will be familiar to you by then.
We make it to Erg Chebbi Dunes, the most beautiful part of the Moroccan desert due to its special orange colour and soften silhouette. This little piece of sand dunes follow the Algerian mountains natural border and create a unique surrounding scenery that will forever stay in you memory as one of the most attractive places you’ve been.
You’ll be taken for a camel trek tour to enjoy an unbelievable Sun set. Drum Bedouin party after diner, and overnight sleep in traditional nomad tent.
Day 2
The next day we take you all the way through one of the province best landscapes, passing Tinghir and it’s amazingly palm groves and mud kasbahs until we reach Gorges du Todra canyons where you’ll loose your breath looking up to these 300 meters high ravine.
We drive you 20km up to the Berber village of Tamtettoucht to enjoy its amazing view of the valley, the old kasbahs and wheat plantations.
