Morocco crops a large variety of Mediterranean fruits and vegetables and even some tropical fruits can be found further south. The country produces large quantities of sheep, cattle, poultry, and seafood which serve as a base for its gastronomy.

Spices are broadly used in Moroccan cuisine and are a main ingredient for a restaurant in Morocco that wants to preserve traditional flavors. While spices have been imported to Morocco for thousands of years, many components, like saffron from Tiliouine, mint and olives from Meknes, and oranges and lemons from Fez, are home-grown. Regular spices consist of cinnamon, cumin, turmeric, ginger, pepper, paprika, anis seed, sesame seed, coriander, parsley, saffron and mint.

Restaurant Marrakech

Djemaa el Fna is a square and market place in Marrakesh’s old city medina quarter. It’s history and important cultural Moroccan features placed it along World Heritage Unesco list in Morocco.

Around 6pm, the square fills with small restaurant stalls where you can sit and assist to an incredible scene. In front of you, vegetables, sea food, salads, bread, different types of meat, tajines, couscous, all there for your own choice.

Tamsahlte

Tamsahlte is just about 20km away from Tazzarine, and only a stone’s throw away from the Sahara Desert. It’s situated in the northern part of the valley of the slopes of Jbel Saghro. Tamsahlte lies at the southernmost part of Morocco’s relaxed paved road, west of Zagora / Agdz / Ouarzazate, and east of Rissani / Erfoud / Errachidia. Tamsahlte itself is a small village with a few hundred residents, a school and a small village shop.

Hotel Riad du Sud

Away from busy roads and in the middle of nature itself, Riad du Sud is located on the edge of Sahara Desert and welcomes you to enjoy southern Morocco. The former farmhouse is now a charming hotel in the clay wall style that is typical for the region. It contains 26 beds in 9 individual rooms. Every room has 2, 3 or 4 beds and its own toilet and shower.

In Marrakech, the best accommodation option is always in riads.

Riads are traditional Moroccan houses located inside old city districts that are several stories high and have an interior patio.

Riads are usually a few stores high. The ground floor has a patio and a fountain. The upper levels hold the suites which all have great views to the lower patio “cloister type”. Riads are not located in the new parts of the cities.

Riads are also known as Moroccan style Guest Houses or Bed & Breakfasts.
They are worth a visit while in the city and are the best choice of accommodation when quality is a concern.
